Winter Harvest Pie

Layer 1 
  • 1 swede bulb
  • 250g cottage cheese
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • Chives (Optional)
  • 1/2 cup of pine nuts
  • 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
Layer 2
  • 2 kumara
  • 4-5 potatoes
  • 2 tbsp yoghurt
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • Sesame seeds or LSA for topping


  1. Peel and chop vegetables
  2. Put potatoes and kumara together to boil in a pot
  3. Put swede onto boil in a different pot
  4. Mash Swede, then stir in tomato puree, cottage cheese, nuts, cinnamon and chives
  5. Mash potato and kumara with yoghurt and nutmeg and whip with a fork
  6. In a pie dish layer, the swede mix first with the mashed potato on top
  7. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or LSA
  8. Bake at 180c for 30 minutes until golden brown
  9. Serve with roast chicken or roast pork chops
