Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup sweet white wine
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
- 1/2 cinnamon stick
- 3 pears
- 1 tsp arrowroot
- 1 shot of rum
Method
- Peel pears, cut in half lengthways and remove the core and seeds
- To a pot add water, wine, brown sugar, vanilla essence, cinnamon
- Bring wine mixture to the boil
- Add pears flat surface down and poach in the boiling wine water for 20 minutes
- Remove pears and place into a dessert bowl
- Mix arrowroot into 1/2 cup cold water
- Mix arrowroot, rum and left over wine water together to get a thick sauce
- Pour over peaches and serve with vanilla ice cream, or brandy cream
